Well, after my 5th day of counting calories and working out (walking between 2 – 3 miles a day) I have lost 2 pounds! Hoping to keep this trend up and I don’t fizzle out! 🙂 Crochet certainly isn’t the most aerobic thing to do but it is satisfying when you get your projects finished! Like this little project that slipped off my hook this morning… your very own little campfire! Here is my pattern.
Crochet Campfire Applique
Measures approximately 5” tall by 3.25” wide.
- medium worsted weight yarn (4)
6 yards – Loops and Threads in Chocolate
2 yards – Loops and Threads in Cherry
7 yards – Loops and Threads in Terracotta
3 yards – Lion Brand, Vanna’s Choice, in Mustard
- Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 11. Fasten off, leave long tail, weave in short end.
Take your two log pieces and form an ‘X’. Using one of your long tail ends, stitch pieces together, weave in end.
Row 1: Ch 25, sl into 3rd ch from hook, sl st, hdc, dc 4, hdc2tog, sc2tog, hdc2tog, dc 4, hdc2tog, sc 2, sl st 2, turn
Row 2: Sl st into next, sc 2, hdc 3, dc2tog twice, sk 2, sc, sl st, ch 12, turn
Row 3: Sl st into 3rd ch from hook, sl st, hdc 4, dc 4, sk 3, sl st into next, turn.
Row 4: Sc2tog, sk 2, sc, hdc2tog, sc2tog, sl st 2. Fasten off, leave long tail. Weave in short end.
Row 1: Ch 13, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sl st, sc 2, sc2tog twice, sc 2, sl st 2, turn
Row 2: Sl st into next, sc 2, ch 6, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sl st, hdc 3, sk 2, sl st. Fasten off, leave long tail. Weave in short end. Use long yarn tail and sew mustard flame on top of terracotta flame. Weave in end.
Row 1: Ch 5, dc into 2nd ch from hook, dc, sc 2, ch 3, turn
Row 2: Sl st into 3rd ch from hook, sl st 2, ch 5, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc, sk 1, sl st. Fasten off, leave long tail, weave in short end. Use long yarn tail and sew cherry flame to top of terracotta flame.
Arrange your pieces on a granny square and use long tail ends to attach. Weave in ends.
